Ancient French pyx from the Napoleon III Period, circa late 1800s.

The pyx is the container in which the consecrated hosts to be celebrated during the Holy Mass are inserted.

Ours is in excellent condition, small wear and patina, ruined internal red velvet which testifies to its antiquity.

Note the hand-embossed silver metal workmanship.
