The dioramas (display case that recreates maritime scenes) are now collectible objects.

Our is quite big, 19th Century, with openable display case, found in Normandy.

The subject, as per tradition, is nautical with this sailing ship in high relief in carved and painting wood that peacefully sails in the blue sea.

Among the splashes of water the dolphins and on the horizon the clear sky.

The scene is peaceful and naif, typical of the most successful dioramas, when the bored sailor delighted in creations to kill time during the longest crossings.

Very rare.

Patina and small shortcomings, but antiquity in excellent general condition.
