Plate - Savona - First half of the 19th century - Hand painted majolica.
Collectible objects are these Savona plates: parade plates, specifically displayed in the wall or, more anciently, on the shelves of open furniture.
The use was therefore to amaze the guest and, over the centuries, this local craftsmanship became famous in all noble houses, the highest expression of culture, refinement and, among the most presumptuous, intellectual superiority.
Ours dates back to the first half of the 19th century and, as tradition had it, in white majolica then hand painted in blue glaze, preserving the typical colors of ancient Savona ceramics.
Of considerable size, without Manufacture branded on the back, small nicks on the movement, but no cracks or restoration, therefore, in truly excellent condition.
An antiquity that tells Ligurian history.
