Pair of XXL obelisks - France - Napoleon III period - Late 1800s - Lacquered wood, gilded bronze.
Pair of unusual extra large obelisks: all in carved wood and lacquered in ebony, ecru and fire red. Plate on the front in gilded bronze in high relief depicting the Goddess Minerva, the Goddess of Wisdom, Medicine and Knowledge.
Coming from a Wunderkammer, the obelisks have over time become a tasty antiquarian rarity.
Ours are very tall, French, late 1800s, full Napoleon III era and in truly excellent condition.
