Ancient Austrian Eagle Frieze

Eagle – Austria – Empire Period – Early 19th century – Carved and gilded wood.

Probably part of a larger sculptural group, this eagle has now become a purely decorative element: it can be hung on the wall using a hook on the back.

Germany, early 1800s, Empire Period.

What is fascinating, beyond the posture and the sculptural ability of the artist, lies in the gilding: original and with gold leaf, it still retains all its shine and history.

Small missing, wear and patina, but really, really!, in excellent overall condition.
