Antique silver cruet with the God Mercury
Cruet - France - Empire Period - Very early 19th century - Crystal and silver.
French cruet, in silver and crystal, Empire Era (early 19th century).
Note, in addition to the delicacy of Mercury's face on the upper handle (typical decoration of the Empire style), also the garlands that form the structures to house the oil and vinegar jar in crystal, the prisimicity of the caps, the zoomorphic feet of the base square, all in embossed silver rich of details.
Encrypted with M and (maybe!) F on the base, certainly initials of the gift recipient.
Extremely elegant object in perfect condition, a reminder of the times when receiving guests meant, as well as pampering them, astonishing them with the beauty of their silverware.
For collectors.
