Landscape painting - Genoa - Oil on canvas - 19th century - Original carved frame.
Landscape painting, oil on canvas, Scuola of Genova, 19th Century.
The painting is unsigned (as almost always the ancient paintings) but the composition refers to the "mano felice" of Tavella from which our artist certainly drew inspiration (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlo_Antonio_Tavella).
On the right this tree stands out for the entire verticality of the painting, giving dynamism to the work.
In the background a fairytale and unchanging landscape among ruins, hints of castles and palaces hidden in the hills.
In the foreground, a shepherd and a shepherdess seem almost to quarrel, while a sheep facing the viewer watches the scene.
Large size, full of charm, to refine even the most modern furnishings.
Set in its original dark and golden lacquered "sguscia" frame.
In good condition: patina on the canvas, lacks of gilding and painting on the frame, which the price absolutely considers.
The measures are frame included.
