Antique French orientalist box
NOT AVAILABLE
Case – Paris – Napoleon III era – Late 1800s – Hand-painted opaline glass.
Rounded opaline glass box with orientalist silhouette painting. This artistic movement, whose peak splendor occurred in France and England towards the end of the 19th century, tended to represent settings and atmospheres typical of the oriental world: when traveling to distant places was the legacy of a few privileged rich people.
The photos absolutely do not do the color justice: a matte and silky soft purple.
Black line painting depicting an oasis with palm trees and a camel driver scanning the horizon.
Perfect conditions.
For collectors.
