Set of 6 antique Barbotine plates with asparagus
Set of 6 plates - France - Art Nouveau - Early 1900s - Ceramics - Barbotine Manufacture.
Set of 6 asparagus plates belonging to the Barbotine Manufacture.
At the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1855, the English Herbert Minton presented with enormous success, ceramic objects with relief decorations - obtained by pouring liquid clay - and painted in bright colors.
As a result of Minton's success, numerous Northern European manufacturers specialized in these productions that so excited the rampant Parisian bourgeoisie of the time.
Hence the spread of these colorful, lively and typical objects of a carefree Paris of the early 1900s that did not yet glimpse the gravity of an imminent war at the gates.
The relief colors in pure French Art Nouveau style are beautiful: light blue, white, pink and note the raised scallop of the lace on which the asparagus rests.
Small bites, but practically perfect and absolutely usable plates.
The price is for the set of 6.
For collectors.
