Antique station of the Cross
Decorative panel – Italy – Late 1800s – Plaster, cement and stone.
Curious antiquity: Station of the Cross, a religious rite that retraces the stages of the Passion of Jesus, certainly originally exhibited in some Church.
In high relief, painted and sculpted concrete, plaster and stone. Italy, around the end of 1800s.
Our panel depicts (as can be read from the scroll) the 5th Station, that is, when Jesus is helped to carry the Cross by Simon of Cyrene.
Of considerable size and weight, defects and breakages of which the price absolutely takes into account.
