Antique Canton tree
NOT AVAILABLE
Canton tree - China - 19th Century - Carved ivory.
We at the Rattopennugo adore ancient curiosities! And this particular wonder belongs by right to antiques collecting.
It depicts a typical pagoda construction, also called Canton Tree, and comes right from this populous Chinese city, which has become famous in the world of antiquities for the excellence and skill of its sculptors.
It is in ivory carved from a single block (we repeat: FROM A SINGLE BLOCK!) and here lies all the skill of the artist who managed, with infinite patience and great skill, to even create the bells that move.
It has no function, other than to amaze the spectators, a collector's item found in the Wunderkammer (very wunder!) that Rattopennugo is recovering.
Century 1800, lacks and wear, but given the era, the details and the material chosen, in good general condition.
An object that the more you observe, the more it reveals details and refinement.
