Ancient "Cartagloria"
NOT AVAILABLE
"Cartagloria" - Genova - Napoleon III Period - Around the end of 1800 - Silver-plated metal - Ancient embroidered silk.
The "cartagloria" is a liturgical object, where the prayer on paper was framed. It often happened (the same goes for the reliquaries) that over time and in the change of location (from a church to a private residence) the prayers were removed and the cartagloria was then "reinvented" as a mirror or, as in our case, as a frame. Very often they were also triptychs (1 larger central chart and two smaller lateral ones).
Our antiquity is Genoese, in silver metal with this rich decoration that makes it place towards the end of the 19th century, Napoleon III Period.
Embedded between its profiles we find an embroidered silk, probably even older than the cartagloria itself.
Excellent condition, it does not come with a hanger to hang it on the wall.
