Ancient baroque reliquary

Reliquary - Genoa - Baroque - Louis XV period - First half of 1700 - Lacquered and gilded wood, antique mirror plate.
Reliquary of important dimensions from the Baroque period (Reign of Louis XV, first half of the 1700s).
Discovered in Genoa, in white-gray lacquered wood with traces of gold.
Note the details: the geometric wooden base with the propped decoration created at the tip of the chisel, the curls, the scrolls (all in carved wood) and the richness of the aesthetics that undoubtedly classify it as belonging to the Baroque Period.
In the back we still see traces of sealing wax: they were the seals that guaranteed the originality of the relic kept in the front.
But what is a reliquary ?! It is a container for the relics of Saints, generally fragments of bones or other parts of the body, or objects that belonged to them or fragments of them, for example clothing, or even miraculous objects.
The function of the reliquary is the worthy conservation of the relic and, possibly, its exposure to the faithful as an object of veneration.
Now the relic of the Saint of our antiquity is no longer present, plundered and sold. As often happened and still happens today, replaced with an ancient mirror plate.
Small cracks, lacks and patina, which only testify to the antiquity of this collector's item.
