Antique powder holder music box
NOT AVAILABLE
Powder holder - Switzerland - circa 1940s - Gold plated, mother of pearl and mirror - Music box.
Delightful gold-plated box with mother-of-pearl inlaid lid.
Circa 1940s, made in Switzerland presumably as a gift for a lady, as the left-hand cabinet opens to reveal a powder compact. Original mirror on the back of the top.
But what is really intriguing is that by winding it up on the right, the box becomes a music box, singing the melody of "Smoke gets in your eyes" a song made famous by The Platters, but a cover by the American composer Jerome Kern from 1933.
