Antique carriage hub doorstop
Carriage hub – Tuscany – 1600th century – Carved and painted wood, original hand-wrought iron.
One of the aspects that interests us most at the Rattopennugo of the Antiques Universe is when an object was designed for one use, but is then updated, reinvented, over the centuries, for another one.
And this is the case of the hub of a carriage (to tighten it: it is the part where the wheel is inserted) that we propose to you today.
Tuscany, 1600s, all in carved wood and original polychrome lacquer. Also note the hand-wrought iron upper ring.
Rather large and heavy: today's use, in addition to being a sculpture full of charm, could very well be as a doorstop.
Wear and patina, but antiquity in a truly excellent general state of conservation.
Unusual antiquity.
Please, indicate the name of the object in the form. If you're reserving this article for a wedding list, tell us the name of the couple too. Thank you!
