"A bambocci" cupboard
Cupboard - Genoa - "A bambocci" - 1600 - Walnut wood - with leaf - inlayed - coeval irons.
About the style ”a bambocci", many critics and historians have said their opinion and a huge bibliography comes to our support.
This cabinet making technique is defined as “A bambocci” because on the perimeter of the furniture there were applied carved decorations that represented faces and/or whole figures of children, so called "bambocci". This technique was very fashionable between 1500 and 1600, reaching its expressive peak in Genoa.
This cupboard sums up all the typical characteristics of “bambocci” Genoese style, now found in several museums.
Beautiful proportions, with coating, with a leaf, inlays typical of the Genoese sobriety that had nothing to exhibit, but of the highest quality. Original handles.
For collectors, even if large and functional.
